The 17-year-old sport bike racer earned himself another spot in the history books becoming the youngest ever race winner in the Canadian Superbike Championship with his victory at the R.A.D. Torque Raceway in Edmonton, AB, last weekend (June 21-23).
The Chilliwack product made his debut in the Sport Bike class in what was the third round of this year’s Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship. Having made the step-up from the Pro-Twins class, the young rider was seen as an underdog heading into the weekend.

Chilliwack’s AJ Van Winkle earns invite to Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship
Less than two years after being the youngest person to receive a racing license from the Westwood Motorcycle Racing Club, Chilliwack’s Andrew (AJ) Van Winkle, now 15, has been given another honour. The teenager will race in the newly-established pro twins class of the Bridgestone Canadian Superbike Championship.

Chilliwack’s A.J. Van Winkle is the youngest to ever get a racing licence from Mission’s Westwood Motorcycle Racing Club (WMRC).
The teenager just turned 14, and historically licenses don’t go to anyone younger than 16. While the club says lowering the age by two years isn’t specifically about Van Winkle and is their attempt to attract more young racers to the sport, the timing seems awfully coincidental.

A 14-year-old from Chilliwack is on the fast track to motorsports success.
The Pacific Coast Mini Road-Racing Club (PCMRC) held its opening races the weekend of June 19-20.
Rising star Andrew Van Winkle reached the podium five times in six races, including a pair of second place finishes in the Formula Thunder division. Competing against, and often defeating adults, the teenager has quickly made a name for himself at Chilliwack’s Greg Moore Raceway.
